One of the factors that support the teaching-learning process is learning media. The textbook is part of a very important medium of learning. Hence the book that teachers and students use as handy book in teaching and learning must be analyzed from the content and quality. In order to achieve the learning objectives at the desired target, here the researchers intend to examine the contents of the English book, entitled "Let's Talk". The purpose of the research is to examine the suitability of the content with government standard of curriculum.
Formulation of the research problems in this study are: (1). How is the content of the English textbook "Let's Talk" according to the School Based Curriculum 2006. The purpose of this research study is: (1) to understand the content of English textbook “Let’s talk†for second grade of Junior High School according to School based curriculum 2006.
The benefits of this research are: (1) to help researchers provide ideas about the contents of English textbook “Let's Talk†based on government standard about School Based Curriculum 2006. (2). To help students understand and study the contents of books easily. (3). To help teachers to choose the books that qualified as a handy book in the teaching learning. For next researcher, this study is useful as a reference for conducting research about the quality of the content from English textbook that was in use as guiding book.
This study is conducted through library research and using qualitative approach. The data source for this study is primary data. It called as English textbook “Let’s Talkâ€. The data collection use is documentation. To analyze the data, the researcher is reading, analyzing, selecting and summarizing the data. After analyzing the data, the researcher can concludes: (1) there is a match between the contents of the book with a standard curriculum 2006 which use literacy approach.
